Is it possible to add the banner display function based on the customer group?

  This is not available natively , but you could use a CMS Block Scheduler extension in combination with the Banner Slider extension to achieve expected behaviour. Add the banner in a CMS Block and set the block visibility based on Customer Group.

  You could use our extension as it will be compatible out of the box with Banner Slider.
