Hey everyone! Thanks for your feedback on this. We have indeed been looking into this and have managed to figure out and apply a solution for the Instagram restriction here. We went ahead and updated the extension with a hotfix which includes a version change.

Go ahead and download the new version from under your weltpixel.com accounts and perform an update by following the instructions in the documentation and on the Product Page here. For the time being, the fix is included in the standalone Instagram Widget module and will be included in the Pearl Theme starting with the next version.

    from welt:

We are aware of this issue, however, we have managed to isolate the cause of the error related to the Instagram Widget and have been able to reproduce this. This is actually a limitation placed on accessing Instagram photos via JS scraping (directly from Instagram), a limitation which is placed per IP.

Our dev team is currently looking into a potential workaround for this limitation, and we'll try to have that introduced by the next version of the extension.

    All the best,
    Alex

Thank you, will we receive a notification when the fix/workaround is ready ? (I was thinking of some cache implementation to reduce the number of calls)

    Hi there,

We have the same issue aswell! Yes I agree with Jean-Gabriel we need a workaround in the meantime without waiting for the next update. Can you provide a patch in the meantime?

    Cheers, Sas

Its not really fair that theme buyers are made to wait!!!

We paid  $2K for your theme (2 domains) and extra $300 for your support and, for us at least, Instagram & Infinite Scroll are not working and we are just told that you are aware and to wait for your next release.

To add to the confusion you sent email to us that says  "If you're using the Pearl Theme, you can update to the latest version which includes this Instagram Widget hotfix " which is wrong. Luckily I checked the Instagram code before embarking on the update just to find that it has not been updated.

Are you kidding? What kind of customer support is it?

Can you please share the fixes for Instagram and for Infinite Scroll. I dont need updated theme, just share the InstagramWidget & AjaxInfiniteScroll folders.

    Regards,

    Darek

It is very, very sad but the support simply does not exist.
the answer to our technical questions is always the same... wait for the next release or read the instructions or...or never give a clear answer.

All very, very sad as we pay for a for top quality support that is not cheap but the reality is very different.

We appreciate the continued feedback on this matter. Quick update on the topic, we've gone ahead and added the hotfix to the Pearl Theme packs, so you should now have access to that if you're using the theme as well as the standalone module.

If you don't want to perform a full theme update yet, you can simply download the updated pack from under your weltpixel.com account's Downloadable Products section and perform an update for the Instagram Widget module. This would involve the following:

    1. Disabling the InstagramWidget extension.
    2. Removing the InstagramWidget extension folder from app/code/WeltPixel.
    3. Copying the updated InstagramWidget extension folder from the zip you downloaded into app/code/WeltPixel
    4. Re-enabling the InstagramWidget extension, running a setup:upgrade and recompiling the code + redeploying the static content if necessary.

If you find any other issues here, feel free to let us know so we can take another look.

    Hi there,

Sorry your instructions are confusing! We've only purchased Pearl Theme and would like to update ONLY the InstagramWidget. Can you confirm how to do so as the theme downloadable is still set to October 22nd and I don't see a separate option to download InstagramWidget?

    Cheers, Sas

Can I please check that the version now in my downloadable products "Download Instagram Widget Advanced Version 1.10.5 (January 25, 2021)" Is the working version as our agency have followed your instructions above and we are still getting an error on our site.

You need to redownload "v1.10.1 (October 22, 2020)". It will have updated changes. They regularly update the contents of that download without incrementing the version number with no notification. Ive have complained twice about this practice to them as it is incredibly frustrating and immature. Its literally the point of semantic versioning.

The Instagram extension is just wrapping this open source code. That code has many changes and improvements that WeltPixel have not adopted into their extension; hence all the bugs.

Has anyone had any luck on this? It's still not working for me on the Feb 12th 2021 version of the theme pack.

Any new updates on this? When I first updated the extension using the January 25, 2021 version it seemed to fix the issue, but now it's not working again. Getting a CORS error as well as this error: Instagram Feed: Unable to fetch the given user/tag. Instagram responded with the status code: 0.

    --------------- READ THIS ---------------

This extension will not work in the foreseeable future; do not use it. Instagram has changed their policies which has effectively blocked it. The developer of the underlying code that this extension is based on has given up due to this and has archived their GitHub repro.

It's pretty sad that WeltPixel continues to sell and promote this extension with no updates from them.

Hey everyone! Thanks for your feedback on this.

The current implementation of Instagram is not working anymore, because Instagram made some changes on its side.

However, we finish the new implementation which works using the Instagram Basic API. This is expected to be released by the end of the week.

So, once the release is out, please make sure to upgrade and follow the new documentation.

I see there's now an instagram token setting. Do we have to add this to get the feed working?

    Hi,

Yes, there is an Instagram token now that you have to set by following the steps from the User Guide here:

    https://weltpixel.com/resources/ModuleDoc/Magento2/InstagramWidget/User-Guide-WeltPixel-Instagram-Widget-Advanced-Magento2.html

Before setting this up, make sure you updated the extension to the last version 1.10.15. The steps for the upgrade you can find them in the link above.
