Product Page V2 - Bug in Configurable Products - Selecting a Variation Displays Main Product Image in 2nd Place

Hi team,

This bug has existed for a while and I was hoping it would be picked up and fixed but it's been over a year and it's still present.

The bug is with Product Page V2, but may also exist in other variations such as V4.

It happens with Configurable products.

IF you have a configurable product, and when you view the product page in the shop front, and select a variation, as well as loading the images for the selected variation, the theme incorrectly also displays the main product images in the 2nd place.

Can you please tell me how I can fix this glitch?

Select a variation such as "Gold + Black". You will see the theme will switch images to that variation, but the second image is always the green product image which is the main image for this product. This is very confusing and is hurting customer sentiment and casuing undue confusion.
