Mega Menu - replace generated category urls with full CMS block?

Is there any way to display only a CMS block on each menu?
Our category tree structure makes the generated menu look messy and I'd rather make a custom list structure via a CMS block that we can customise as we need to. I can't see anyway to do this. I've done it with mega menu in M1.

  This feature is now scheduled to be added in a next release.

  The existing options for the module don't allow for this. The Mega Menu extension is built upon the default Magento menu architecture, with the added features.   +1 to adding this feature.  in the meantime, I'm adding a Spacer category and hiding it.
