Layered Navigation - Category Filter
I have an issue where only some categories show up to filter in Layered Navigation. Let's say I have 6 subcategories to a mother category and select/click the mother category then only some of them show active to filter. All subcategories have products. I can’t figure out why they don’t show. Let’s say that the ID of a category not showing is 15. Now I filter some other category and the URL now shows …?cat=x. If I change the URL to … ?cat=15 then the content of the category will show and Layer Navigation view shows active filter to be category 15’s name. So why isn’t the category not shown to be filtered from the first place. What triggers the category to show up? That it has content: Yes, check. What else?
It’s consistent. Either a category shows up to be filtered or not. I’ve tried to move products from a functional category to a malfunctioned. No change. I’ve had a look at category related tables to see if I see a difference. They appear to be similar.
Any idea to this?
What’s the characteristic of the category to show up apart from content?
Hope to hear soon … This is driving me …:)

We've tested this out using the latest version of the Layered Navigation module on a clean Magento environment, but weren't able to replicate it using the steps provided. All the subcategories show up in the filter just fine.
I can recommend, first of all, making sure that you're using the latest version (currently 1.8.2). If you aren't, you can find the steps to upgrade the extension in the documentation and on the product page.
Secondly, you can try reindexing your store. Here's an article that goes over how to do that:https://support.weltpixel.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000355673-How-to-reindex-your-Magento-2-store-from-admin-or-SSH-CLI
If any of the steps above helped out, post the results here so others can see! If not, let us know more detailed steps towards replicating this, and we'll look into it again!
