How to configure Flat Rate shipping in Magento 2

Flat Rate charge can be applied per shipment or per item. It is a solution when used with flat-rate packaging available from some carriers. You can find it as an option on the checkout page. You can use a carrier of your choice because no specific carrier is specified.

To configure the Flate Rate, you need to go to Admin -> Stores -> Settings -> Configuration -> Sales  -> Delivery Methods -> Flat Rate

Flat Rate Settings:

Enable -> [Yes / No] Enable or Disable the Flat Rate shipping method from the Checkout Page.

Title Change the title of the shipping method from Flat Rate to your own custom title.

Method Name You can set a name to appear next to the calculated rate in the shopping cart.

Type -> [None / Per Order / Per Item] Flat Rate charge can be applied per shipment or per item. 

Price Set the price you want to charge for Flat Rate Shipping Method.

Calculate Handling Fee You can set a handling fee, it will be an additional charge added to the shipping cost. If you want to set it, choose one of the options below:

• Fixed
• Percent

Handling Fee Set the amount to be charged based on the method that you have chosen:

• Fixed or Percent.

Displayed Error Message You can set an Error message to display if Flate Rate is not available.

Ship to Applicable Countries [All Allowed Countries / Specific Countries] If you select Specific Countries, you can select below on Ship To Specific Countries only the countries that you want the shipping to be available.

Ship to specific Countries Works only if you select Specific countries from Ship to Applicable Countries, and you can select the countries where shipping is available.

Show Method if Not Applicable [Yes / No] Enable or Disable this if you want to show or not the Method if not applicable.

Sort Order Set the order you want the shipping method to appear( For example "2", so it will appear as a second option).

Save Config and flush all caches available and refresh the website after the changes are done.
